2012-07-25: As was announced on the show tonight, a new review is available! The record in question is the sophomore attempt from District 97, Trouble with Machines, and it has been reviewed by both Nick and Mason.

2012-07-18: First off, my apologies for the lack of a show last week. The server which broadcasts the show unfortunately went down. As the week before that was Independence Day, tonight was the first show in 3 weeks, and I want to thank everyone who came out to help the show get back into the swing of things! As I mentioned during the show, there will be several new reviews coming soon, so keep an eye on this page!

2012-07-06: Fun fact, July is also known as the month in which the "next few days" actually means in over a week! The tardiness aside, the interview with Oceans of Night main man Scott Mosher is now online!

2012-06-27: As was mentioned on air, there will be no show next week, July 4th. The show will return on July 11th. However those two weeks won't be completely idle, as Nick will be interviewing Scott Mosher from Oceans of Night tomorrow night. Keep an eye on the site for that to appear in the next few days.

2012-06-21: Another day, another review! Today's installment is Mason's take on the new Circus Maximus album Nine. After five years away from the studio, find out if the band has written an album to live up to the high standards their previous album Isolate.

2012-06-20: Thanks to everyone who has been tuning in and chatting over the past few weeks, and to all those who have signed up for the email list (in info page) and become loyal podcast regulars!

As announced on tonight's show, Nick has done a review of Banks of Eden, the new album from Swedish prog rockers The Flower Kings. Head over to the review section to see what Roine and the boys have done after five years off.

2012-06-04
: We have a third new review this week! Head over to the reviews section to see Mason's thoughts on the new Burning Point album, The Igniter.

2012-06-02: In order to give everyone a better introduction to new contributor Mason Rouser, I've added a staff bio page to the site here. In addition we've created a new grading rubric to use going forward here. With a doctor/professor in the house it's only fitting we throw away the numbers and let hand down letter grades.

That said, Mason has submitted his first review for the site, and the lucky album is the brand new Affector album, Harmagedon. The band features Ted Leonard (Enchant), Mike LePond (Symphony X), and Colin Leijenaar (Neal Morse). Head over to the reviews section to check it out!

2012-05-30: As was talked about on tonight's show, please welcome Mason Rouser (DTVT) to the When Prog and Power Unite family! Mason will be contributing reviews to the site, and his first will come in the not so distant future. And while we're talking about reviews, check out the newest of Sonata Arctica's Stones Grow Her Name.

2012-05-16
: As I announced on the show tonight, the interview with Rikard Sjoblom and Magnus Ostgren of Beardfish is now online! Hear about how the band keeps up their stunning recording pace, and who in the band is responsible for keeping the beer flowing!

2012-05-09
: Thanks to everyone who has been tuning in and chatting over the past few weeks! I'd like to let everyone know that a new review is now available! The band and album are Awaken, an unsigned American metal act that deserves your support!

2012-04-15
: There will be no show on April 18th. Hope to see everyone when the show returns on April 25th!

2012-03-21: As announced on the show, the bad news is that there will be no show next week, March 28th. The good news is a new review is online! Head over to the reviews section to check out Nick's review of Beyond the Bridge's The Old Man and the Spirit.

2012-01-09: Happy new year everyone! As some of you may have heard the year end wrap up show scheduled for January 4th had to be canceled due to work commitments, but it will be airing this Wednesday the 11th from 6-10pm EST. Dream Theater won the year end listener poll and so A Dramatic Turn of Events will see heavy play on the show.

After that the show will be on every Wednesday from 7-10pm EST. I hope all the regular listeners are able to join us at the new day and time!

2011-12-14: Long time no update! After some time off the show finally returned for a broadcast this past Monday but had to be cut short due to technical difficulties. I've been working the past two days to fix this and so we should be good to go next week.

I have updated the site to include this years album of the year poll which can be found here. Those who have listened to the show in past years know that the winner of this poll is the featured artist during the special year end wrap up show. The 2011 show will occur early in January, with exact details announced within the week.

2011-06-27: Thanks to everyone who tuned in tonight and thanks to Ytserush for once again being our guest co-host! As I announced on air, I have done a review of Friday's Adrenaline Mob show in New York City. Finally, remember that I'm taking next Monday off, not only to celebrate the 4th of July, but also to complete a move of the When Prog and Power Unite studio, so see you all in two weeks!

I would like to remind everyone there will be no show this coming Monday as I'll be in New York City seeing 3+ hours of Neal Morse! There are no guest co-hosts lined up after that so feel free to follow the instructions in the info section and shoot off a few emails.

Also, a friend of mine recently interviewed Nick Barrett of Pendragon and she was kind enough to include a few questions I submitted. You can check out the interview here.

2011-05-12: A new interview with Neal Morse is online! 2011-03-30: To celebrate the renewal of Rush's Time Machine tour, and my own personal trip of 400 miles to see the Rush DVD filming in Cleveland, April will officially be Rush month at When Prog and Power Unite. What exactly does Rush month mean you ask? Kicking off our show on April 4th will be the first set from Rush's Time Machine tour. The middle of the April 11th show will feature Moving Pictures in full, and the April 18th show will end with the remaining songs from the Time Machine tour. Included in that last show will be an excellent audience recording of Neil's solo from the tour.

So tell your fellow Rush fans to come on out for these shows and discuss the tour and all things Rush during the show.

2011-03-15: A couple of big announcements for the show. First, as announced during the last show I will start making podcasts of prior shows available for those who might miss a show. All you have to do is sign up for the mailing list here, and along with a weekly reminder to listen and any big news you will also receive and email each week with a link to listen back to that week's show.

Next, to give loyal listeners a chance to participate more in the show there will now be a guest co-host portion of the show. Each week we will give a listener a 30 minute block of music to choose. This will give everyone out there a chance to have music they love heard on the show. If you are interested in this opportunity simply send an email to info@wpapu.com with the subject line "co-host". Also in the email please specify which Monday nights in the near future you would be able to attend the show.

Finally, due to prior technical issues I've decided to embed a chat room here at the show's website. In the future you'll be able to go to our tune in and chat section, follow the instructions to hear the music and chat directly from that same page.

Hope everyone enjoys these changes as When Prog and Power Unite pushes forward!

2010-02-22: We've finished our first official show at our new home! A big thank you to all who came out and tuned in. To see what we played go to the archived setlists section. Hopefully by next week we should be able to announce a big event for everyone.

2010-02-15: Thanks to everyone who came out tonight to help us try out the new station and troubleshoot potential problems. We will work over the next week to solve the problems we found and to put instructions up on the site on how to deal with certain chat issues. If you want to see what we played go to the archived setlists section.

2010-02-13: When Prog and Power Unite is returning to the air!

That's right, we've settled in at a new station and we'll be returning to the air on Monday, February 22nd, and we'll still be on from 6-9pm EST.

Our new home is ProgRock Radio, a site run by Shawn Gordon, who also runs ProgRock Records.  Take some time to check out the site, and make sure you can tune in and chat so that you're good to go when we have our first show back.

Over the next few days we'll be working on updating links, banners, and promos for everyone.

2010-01-14: Bad news everyone. It looks like after two years of steady programming When Prog and Power Unite will be taking its first extended break fro the air. Unfortunately Dementia Radio will be shutting their radio server back down and so we will be looking for a new station.

We would like to take time to find a station in which this program will be a welcome fit, which can help us expand and grow, and which is established and stable enough to provide us a long-standing home so another break like this can be avoided. If you have any info or suggestions for us, or you are a station looking to host the program please send an email to info@wpapu.com.

Thank you to everyone who have helped to make the show a success over the past two years, I hope you'll stick with us as we find a new home.

2010-01-11: Due to circumstances beyond our control tonight's show had to be cancelled, sorry everyone!

2010-01-04: A big thanks to everyone who came out for the 2009 year end wrap up special! Congrats once more to Redemption for winning the 2009 Album of the Year poll with Snowfall on Judgment Day. You can go to the setlists section to see what we played. We hope this was a good start to another year of When Prog and Power Unite!

2009-12-28: The setlist from tonight's show is up, you can go to the archived setlists section to check out what we played. Make sure you make it out next week for the 2009 wrap up special!

2009-12-28: Due to a last minute issue Jeff will be unable to make it to the show tonight. Because of this Nick will be doing a normal show this evening and we will be pushing our special 2009 wrap up show to next week on January 4th. Remember that show will be extended to at least four hours, going from 6-10pm EST!

: Alright everyone, here is another chance for all you listeners to get involved with what you'll hear on the show every week. We will be taking suggestions for what songs to include in our intro medley for 2010. Send an email to info@wpapu.com with two suggested songs. One should be more prog leaning, and the other more power/metal leaning. Please include artist, album, and song title.

2009-11-10: Our album of the year poll is up and running! Click on the link just below our banner to vote for your favorite album of those listed, which were chosen by the hosts of the show. The winning album will be featured during our 2009 wrap up show at the end of the year.

2009-11-09: Thanks to everyone who tuned in for our first show on Dementia Radio! You can check out what we played and listen back to the show in the "Archived Setlists" section. Also, as we announced on the show our album of the year poll will be up at some point this week. The winner of that will be featured during our 2009 wrap up show at the end of the year. Finally we also announced that we will be taking user requests for 2010's intro medley, stay tuned for more information on that.

2009-11-02: There's going to be a little change in the way the show will be run. We'll be trying to make the show a little looser, and one of the ways I'll be doing that is by removing the two special features of the show, the essential epic and the obligatory ballad. In the future epic and ballad requests will be more easily filled, and in general they will be played more freely, as opposed to only once a show.

2009-11-01: Looks like we're in for a big change here at When Prog and Power Unite. First off there will be no show this Monday, November 2nd. Next, when we return on Monday, November 9th the show will have moved to a new home at Dementia Radio. The owners of Dementia have been close friends for many years, and we have decided to move to help them as they bring their stream back online after a fourteen month absence.

We would like to thank Metal Messiah Radio for hosting the show previously and for their additional help. We wish them the absolute best and hope everyone will still pop in over there for any programs of interest.

We hope all our listeners will help us out during this time of transition, as it will be a fresh start for both this show, and our new station. Early support will be greatly appreciated! Over the next week we will be revamping the site a bit, replacing banners and updating links.

Thanks again to Metal Messiah Radio, thank you to our new station, Dementia Radio, and see everybody on November 9th!
