Rising from the ashes of the band Sorcerer Shadow Gallery released their debut album in 1992,
and later would Gary Wehrkamp
into the group. Since then they have put together five more progressive metal albums
that are among the best available. Four of those albums (and the debut) featured
leading vocalist Mike Baker who suffered a heart attack and passed away in
October of 2008. Mike's vocals were considered an integral part of the band's
sound and his loss was felt deeply within the band and amongst fans. However, the remaining
members decided to push on with new vocalist Brian Ashland and in 2009 they
released Digital Ghosts. The release saw the band hinting that more could be in
the works, that after 17 years as a purely studio project perhaps a few live
shows were finally around the corner...
Fast forward to the current day and the current lineup of Brian Ashland, Brendt
Allman, Carl Cadden-James, Gary Wehrkamp and Joe Nevolo are set to make their
live debut on September 5th in their home state of Pennsylvania (Click
for more info). After that the band is headed to Europe for a tour that
includes a headlining slot in ProgPower Europe. In the 52 minute interview
below the band (sans Brian) discusses everything from the early days of the
band, to the story behind Tyranny and Room V, and of course Digital Ghosts and
the upcoming tour.
